Returning early from a disastrous date night with my husband, I know something is wrong the moment the wheels crunch the gravel drive of our home. Inside, the TV is on and a half-eaten meal waits on the table. My heart stops when I find our little girl is alone in the house and our babysitter, Sasha, is missing…

Days later, when I’m arrested for Sasha’s murder and torn away from my perfect little family, I’ll wish I had told someone about the threatening note I received that morning.

I’ll hate myself for not finding out who the gift hidden inside my husband’s wardrobe was for.

I’ll scream from the rooftops that I’m innocent – but no one will listen.

I will realise I was completely wrong about everything that happened that night…

But will you believe me?

Twisted and absolutely unputdownable, Date Night exposes what goes on behind the closed doors of a happy home and the dangerous truths we ignore to protect the ones we love. Perfect reading for anyone totally gripped by The Wife Between Us, Friend Request or Gone Girl.

  • Good read but unfair to reader...almost a lie...Definitely a lie.

I didn’t like that the main character left so much out of what really until the end. I did not like the ending either.

Didn’t really get interesting till the last 75 pages. Some good twists but nothing jaw dropping. I don’t understand all the rave reviews, there are better thrillers out there.
  • Boring

Couldn’t keep my interest past the 5th chapter had to skim the chapters to finish

Was expecting more from this. Kept me gripped until the end and then it took a disappointing turn
  • Terrible

Predictable, slow, monotonous. Its annoying how even when switching from past and present tense, the author also switches from first person to third person. At first, this is confusing when trying to get the characters straight, but then it becomes repetitive in how the story unfolds. The first two hundred pages could have been told in twenty. It’s so bad, I stopped reading the book and I can’t remember the last time I did that. I kept hoping things would pick up, then realized I was wasting my time and now I don’t even care what happens to the characters. Don’t waste your money, it was on sale for a reason.

This book was well written and her writing is easy to understand. It kept me on the edge of my seat all the way through to the surprise ending, which I never saw coming. Read this...You won’t be sorry or disappointed!

This book is a great read. I didn’t give it five stars because it’s not one of my all time favorites. BUT I did stay up late and get up early to see what happened next. There are lots of twists and turns and interesting details that keep popping up in the story. I recommend this book.

Date Night by Samantha Hayes Pub Date: 20 Aug 2019 Review by Dot O, Reviewer Last updated on 26 Aug 2019 My Recommendation #Date Night #NetGalley Thanks to the author, Samantha Hayes; to NetGalley, and to Bookouture for my advanced copy of Date Night. All opinions expressed in this review are my own. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ WOW, what a rollercoaster ride!! I really “felt” the thrills and excitement of Ms Hayes’s latest book, Date Night, as the plot developed and thickened. The story was original and fast paced, with each new page turning up another twist or devious turn! The characters were well defined and were relatable. Emotions, some good, and others not, are evoked as the reader understands the true nature of each person in the story. My feelings for most characters evolved as the story progressed, as motives, secrets, and deceptions were revealed. I will admit, I was very snookered by this novel. Many red herrings and surprises galore. Date Nights are usually considered to be fun filled events, greatly anticipated, where happy memories are created. But the date night shared by the main character, Libby and her husband, Sean? NOT!! It was not only disastrous, but as a result lives were destroyed, there was a murder by the end of the night, and deeply hidden secrets were eventually revealed at a great cost to all. The end of the book was so shocking and unexpected that it hit me like a ton of bricks! Literally, I had to go back and reread the Epilogue to be sure I could believe my eyes. I definitely recommend this book to those who love a great twisty mystery, and love to be surprised! In my opinion, one of the best in this genre.
